Appearance: A small compact duskywing. Lacks white forewing spots present on most other duskywings. Above, forewing grayish-brown with 2 black bands enclosing a gray band. The more brownish hindwing has 2 rows of pale tan spots in the submarginal/postmedian area.

Size: Small; 7/8 to 1 1/16 inches

Habitat: Moist forest clearings and along streams

Season: Late spring-early summer; 1 brood

Larval Foodplant: Willows, poplars, aspen and birch
