Appearance: A small compact duskywing. Lacks white forewing spots present on most other duskywings. Above, forewing grayish-brown with 2 black bands enclosing a gray band. The more brownish hindwing has 2 rows of pale tan spots in the submarginal/ postmedian area.

Wingspan: Small; 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 inches.

Habitat: Moist forest clearings and edges, along streams; foothills, montane.

Flight Times: May to July; 1 brood.

Larval Foodplant: Willows, poplars, aspen and sometimes birch.
