Appearance: Above, orange with black spots in the middle of both wings and a pale submarginal band. Below, marbled brown.
Size: Medium; 1 3/4 to 2 1/16 inches
Habitat: Edges of wooded areas, marshes, parks and open lots
Season: April and July through September
Larval Foodplant: Nettles
