Appearance: Antennae are short with black and white concentric rings and black clubs. Above, orange with diffuse black margins on both forewing and hindwing. Below, orange with black forewing leading edge. Wings are rounded; flight is weak.

Size: Small; 7/8 to 1 1/8 inches

Habitat: Wet meadows and roadside ditches

Season: June through September; 2 broods

Larval Foodplant: Grasses, such as Reed Canarygrass along Boulder Creek
